(11/5/19 Note: This title has been edited to reflect the proper credentials of the doctor I had visited. She is not a nutritionist but, rather, a registered dietician.) The most anticipated event of the week for me, besides the midterm election, was getting to see a dietician. Although I've been involved in health and fitness for a while, that doesn't mean that I don't have a lot to learn. My appointment was an hour and a half, and my doctor took a long time to learn about my habits, goals, and history. By doing so, she was able to understand what I already knew and what I wanted to accomplish. When you go into any doctor's appointment, be as open and as truthful as possible. You'll be able to have a much better session if you give your doctor as much information as possible and are open to what they have to say. ![]() My biggest takeaway is that I'm totally eating wrong--and have been for a while. My relationship with food has been like a crazy pendulum where I'll eat super healthy for any period of time, then suddenly it'll swing to the other side and I'm eating extremely poorly. Sure, I've lost weight by dieting, but it's a miserable process and I always gain about 5lbs back. I learned so much from the dietician and wanted to pass along my biggest takeaways to you! However, please see a health professional before you implement anything into your life. This is what she recommended for me, and remember that every body is different so what is recommended for me may not be 100% right for you.
Here's an example for 3 days of eating: I got so excited about eating pita bread that I made the dietician laugh. As I mentioned last week, you should be excited to eat what's in your fridge. That being said I'm SUPER excited to go grocery shopping for this next week's grub. Let's see how this goes, and you can bet I'll be doing an update at the end of the next couple of weeks. Before I end, I'd like to extend my uttermost condolences to the lives lost in the recent shooting in Thousand Oaks. My heart goes out to everyone affected by that and the recent fire back home. Have a happy, healthy, and balanced week!
